After a long day of exploring and adventure (or doing nothing at all!) spend the night under the stars soaking in the outdoor bath or wrap yourself in the warmth of the wood burner with a glass of red, or 2.
Great indoor-outdoor flow makes dining and day-to-day living a breeze.
Dining
Fire up the BBQ or whip up a meal with ease in the fully functional kitchenette. If cooking isn’t your thing, Hannah is a trained chef so she’s your go-to for any catering requirements that you may have.
For an additional cost, dinner packages and picnic supplies can be provided and tailored to your needs. A variety of dining options are also available along the Kapiti Coast.
Activities
Guests are welcome to use the bikes provided or go for walks along the farm hills. If you’re up for a challenge walk, or run, the nearby Paekākāriki Escarpment Track or paraglide off the peak! Depending on what month you visit, taking part in a sheep muster with farmer Hamish could be on the cards.
As an optional extra, Heliworx helicopters located in Kapiti can pick up guests for a scenic flight or jet-setting lunch trip and the Morgans 9-hole Golf course is an easy 10-minute drive away. There’s plenty on offer for those active relaxers out there and Tunapo Escape is one heck of a launch pad.

We were lucky to spend a weekend at the amazing Tunapo Escape recently. This place is amazing. If you truly want to step away from it all, somewhere so close to Wellington, this is the spot for you. Warm, inviting, luxurious, it was bliss. And watching the wild weather, stunning sunsets and everchanging view from the outdoor bath was a treat. My husband surprised me with this weekend away for my birthday. It was private, quiet, and has amazing views over to Kapiti Island. The setting sun over the sea is beautiful and even more picturesque from the large oudoor bath. It's the perfect space to relax, unwind and enjoy a few wines and food in a peaceful natural setting. When we booked Tunapo Escape, after looking at the photos, we certainly expected a quiet retreat with marvellous views but the actual experience was well beyond that. It has an almost magical feel about it. The retreat itself has a real warmth and is beautifully appointed. The touches of class included the quality of linen, the outdoor bath and the incredible ambience and warmth created by the small wood burner. The views however, are absolutely next level. A stunning vista that sweeps from Pukerua Bay to Kapiti Island with a stunning silhouette of the South Island of New Zealand running between. It just makes you want to do nothing more than sit on the deck, with your favourite wine, cheese and partner in life. You will probably sit in silence like we did and just “be”…. and to cap it all off … you will not see a more spectacular sunset. There is something VERY VERY VERY special about Tunapo Escape and it is probably the most spectacular place we have ever stayed at. We will ABSOLUTELY be returning! - Cathy
